Andrew Peers - a.k.a. Dru

Half Irish by blood and raised in the green heart of Robin Hood country in England, his journey has been anything but ordinary. In his late teens and early twenties he lived as an anti-social punk rocker, walking the edges of society before an unexpected calling drew him into a very different world. He went on to spend 21 years within Trappist monasteries.

As a silent monk, immersed in long hours of contemplation, he was given the rare gift of time and space to face his own shadow. Guided by a wise and experienced mentor, this inner work became a profound path of transformation. During the final decade of monastic life, his search deepened further. While still a Christian monk, he trained in Buddhist meditation, even spending time in Japanese monasteries.

Yet eventually another step awaited him. When he left the Trappist Order, he also released the formal structures of both traditions. What remained was the essence of the journey itself. Today his work flows from a path that has moved through Christian and Buddhist insight and returned him, full circle, to the living wisdom of his Celtic roots.

"I was talking to a friend about what I do to feed my vitality. I told her I do 'lightwork' every day. Sounds vague and New Age, but that's my name for it in short. "How long have you been doing this for?' she asked. "For about ten years now", I said, "I had this sort of initiation with three witches, and I've been doing it ever since". "Hmm," she replied. "That's not what I see (she's a bit clairvoyant). I can see all this light in you, especially in your heart, your arms and your hands. But it has nothing to do with three women. There's a little tumbling, joking Druid or leprechaun-like man there, jumping up and down, red-brown beard, standing in a golden spotlight. He's had a splendid time in giving you this. The light looks like small particles inside you, like you've sifted it out of something that went through you. So that's where your connection with this light must have started. Such a lovely gift. Have you ever thanked him?"
